Welcome to the preparation program for the Sacrament of Confirmation. The time of preparation is really a journey where we offer the opportunity for the candidates to come to a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith and move from being "Hearers of the Word" to "Doers of the Word." Preparating for the Sacrament of Confirmation requires commitment on the part of the candidates and support and encouragement from both parents and sponsors as candidates prepare to receive the final Sacrament of Initiation.
St. Joseph the Worker will celebrate the Sacrament of Conformation for high school teens (grades 9-12) in late May, 2023. All confirmation candidates and their families must be regularly attending Sunday Mass at St. Joseph the worker and classes must be attended by the confirmation candidates and at least one parent (preferably both). The 2022-2023 Confirmation preparation classes are held on Sundays in the school basement from 11:45am-12:14pm on the following dates: Oct. 30, Nov. 6, Nov. 20, Dec. 4, Dec. 18, Jan. 8, Jan 22, Feb. 5, and Feb. 19. In addition, following the Confirmation preparation classes there will be three EVENINGS OF REFLECTIONS on Friday, April 14, 28, and 12 from 6pm to 8:30pm. These reflection evenings will be held in the social room and only the candidates will attend.
The date for the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Joseph the Worker will be set by the bishops of the Archdioces of Portland.
